Jeff Jarvis

Mr. Jarvis is a distinguished journalist and leader in the development of online news, digital delivery, blogging, and other new-media. Mr. Jarvis currently serves as a consultant to Advance and About.com, an online media company owned by The New York Times Company, where he works on content development and strategy. Mr. Jarvis is also the creator of the popular and influential weblog BuzzMachine.com.
Mr. Jarvis is also an associate professor at City University of New York’s Graduate School of Journalism, directing its new media program. He has a fortnightly column in British newspaper The Guardian’s MediaGuardian supplement.
Most recently, Mr. Jarvis was President and creative director of Advance.net, which includes CondeNet and Advance Internet, the online division of Advance Publications. In this capacity, he helped create and develop leading online sites for many of the company’s newspapers, including NJ.com, Cleveland.com, OregonLive.com, and Nola.com. He also helped develop websites for several Conde Nast magazines, including Gourmet, Bon Appetit, Vogue, W, and Conde Nast Traveler. He was creator and founding managing editor of Entertainment Weekly; TV critic at TV Guide, and an associate editor and TV Critic for People magazine. He also has considerable newspaper experience as a reporter, writer, and editor at The Chicago Tribune, The San Francisco Examiner, and The New York Daily News. Mr. Jarvis was also recently ranked #7 on the Forbes.com Web Celeb 25, a list of the biggest, brightest and most influential people on the Internet.
